Pubs and Publications is a blog designed to capture the wide range of experiences encountered while doing a PhD, as well as to create a community where we can share ideas, problems and recommendations.  We cover a vast array of topics, from conference reviews to research tips, from how to go about applying for funding to how to negotiate a scholarly debate after a bottle of wine. By addressing the good, the bad and the ugly we hope to provide useful advice, thought-provoking debates, and funny anecdotes.

Our posts come from both “Pubs and Pubs” committee members and from guest contributions. If you are interested in writing a guest post, or just have an idea you would like to see discussed, please head to our Call for Contributions page to get involved or email our editors at

We promise to be honest, instructive, and (hopefully) funny.  We hope you like it.
