If History is defined by writing, as the textual moment of Earth evolution, then we are not experiencing an ‘end of History’, but conversely we have entered the era of hyperhistory, where the colonisation of nature by text is progressing every day, mostly in the form of algorithmic coding. Even if there was never such thing as a ‘book of life’, we are now producing it, under the form of a network of computerised programs, increasingly compatible and connectable. Call it the Epic of Bit. The project is imperialist, yet this is a most subtle war for the replacement of Nature by the microgods Pixel, Voxel, and Texel.
Not the end of History, but the continuation of text, war and epic by other means.
