The edition contains a fully annotated text, an introduction that explores some of the whys and wherefores of the manuscript, as well as three lengthy essays setting the walk in different aspects of its context. If you&#8217;re after a much shorter overview, the <a title=\"James Loxley, 'My Gossip's Foot Voyage'\" href=\"http:\/\/www.the-tls.co.uk\/tls\/public\/article740840.ece\" target=\"_blank\">original TLS article<\/a> in which the discovery of the manuscript was announced is now freely available online too, though this was written before we&#8217;d had a chance to undertake much of our detailed research.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blogs.hss.ed.ac.uk\/ben-jonsons-walk\/files\/2012\/12\/Ben-Jonson-Cover.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-319 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blogs.hss.ed.ac.uk\/ben-jonsons-walk\/files\/2012\/12\/Ben-Jonson-Cover-198x300.jpg\" alt=\"Ben-Jonson-Cover\" width=\"119\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.blogs.hss.ed.ac.uk\/ben-jonsons-walk\/files\/2012\/12\/Ben-Jonson-Cover-198x300.jpg 198w, https:\/\/www.blogs.hss.ed.ac.uk\/ben-jonsons-walk\/files\/2012\/12\/Ben-Jonson-Cover.jpg 298w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 119px) 100vw, 119px\" \/><\/a>There are plenty of other resources out there for anyone keen to find out more about Jonson. His Wikipedia page, unfortunately, is not all that reliable and needs editing \u2013 must get round to that some day. Anyone with library access and an interest in Jonson&#8217;s life and times ought to take a look at Ian Donaldson\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxforddnb.com\/index\/15\/101015116\/\" target=\"_blank\">article <\/a>on him for the <em>Oxford Dictionary of National Biography<\/em>, which also has the merit of providing a taster for the feast that is his masterly biography,<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/ukcatalogue.oup.com\/product\/9780199697472.do#.UbCQOZz4JJQ\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Jonson: A Life<\/a><\/em>, first published in 2011 and widely hailed as definitive.<\/p>\n<p>The other exceptional new resource is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/gb\/knowledge\/features\/featureitem\/item6444744\/?site_locale=en_GB\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Cambridge Edition of the Works of Ben Jonson<\/em><\/a>, a major collaborative achievement overseen by Donaldson, Martin Butler and David Bevington. This contains modernised, fully annotated texts of all Jonson\u2019s confirmed writings, spread out in chronological order over 7 volumes. Yet these are only the start \u2013 the hard copy has been joined by an <a title=\"Ben Jonson online\" href=\"http:\/\/universitypublishingonline.org\/cambridge\/benjonson\/\" target=\"_blank\">online edition<\/a>, featuring \u2018digital images and old-spelling transcriptions of the early print witnesses and major manuscripts, and searchable databases containing all the information necessary for full study of Jonson: the Dubia, Life Records, Textual Essays, Literary Record, Library List, Performance Archive, Masque Archive, Music Edition\u2019 as well as an original spelling edition of the \u2018Foot Voyage\u2019. It&#8217;s also worth noting that an annotated listing of all Jonsonian manuscripts is available online in the <a title=\"Catalogue of English Literary Manuscripts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.celm-ms.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Catalogue of English Literary Manuscripts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are several overviews and essay collections aimed at the enquiring reader. Eugene Giddens\u2019 <em>Oxford Handbook of Ben Jonson Studies<\/em> will offer a series of excellent, detailed and up to the minute essays on all matters Jonsonian<a href=\"http:\/\/www.blogs.hss.ed.ac.uk\/ben-jonsons-walk\/files\/2012\/12\/Jonson-in-Context.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-318 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blogs.hss.ed.ac.uk\/ben-jonsons-walk\/files\/2012\/12\/Jonson-in-Context-204x300.jpg\" alt=\"Jonson in Context\" width=\"122\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.blogs.hss.ed.ac.uk\/ben-jonsons-walk\/files\/2012\/12\/Jonson-in-Context-204x300.jpg 204w, https:\/\/www.blogs.hss.ed.ac.uk\/ben-jonsons-walk\/files\/2012\/12\/Jonson-in-Context.jpg 441w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 122px) 100vw, 122px\" \/><\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/gb\/knowledge\/isbn\/item2710139\/?site_locale=en_GB\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Ben Jonson in Context<\/em><\/a>, edited by Julie Sanders, came out in 2010 and features 38 short essays on Jonson\u2019s life, works, and times. The <em>Cambridge Companion to Ben Jonson<\/em>, first published in 2000, is <a href=\"http:\/\/universitypublishingonline.org\/cambridge\/companions\/ebook.jsf?bid=CBO9781139000154\" target=\"_blank\">now available<\/a> chapter-by-chapter online. Both James Loxley and Sean McEvoy have published brief overviews (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.taylorandfrancis.com\/books\/details\/9780415222280\/\" target=\"_blank\">here <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.euppublishing.com\/book\/9780748623020\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). Jonson also has his own <a href=\"http:\/\/www.euppublishing.com\/journal\/bjj\" target=\"_blank\">critical journal<\/a>, \u2018devoted to the study of Ben Jonson and the culture in which his manifold literary efforts thrived\u2019.
